Delete Your Account

Last Updated: September 7, 2026

Delete from the app

The quickest way to delete your account is inside Odyssea:

  1. Open the Profile tab and tap Settings
  2. Under Account, tap Delete Account
  3. Confirm the deletion

You can only delete an account you are signed in to. If you use Odyssea without an account, there is nothing stored on our servers — use Settings > Data Management > Delete dives & cards to remove those records from your device.

Delete by email

If you no longer have the app installed, or cannot sign in, email us from the address linked to your account:

  • To: support@exploreodyssea.app
  • Subject: Delete my Odyssea account

We verify that you own the account before acting on an email request. Once verified, support uses the same account-deletion and Apple-revocation workflow as in-app deletion, including automatic retries and recorded manual-removal consent when needed. We process deletion requests within 30 days.

If you signed in with Apple

Odyssea requests removal of your Apple sign-in access when your account is deactivated. Temporary failures are retried automatically; they do not prevent account deletion. You can also remove access yourself while a retry is pending.

Older accounts may not have an Apple credential available for automatic removal. The app first offers Apple confirmation. Cancelling that confirmation leaves your account active. You can keep your account or separately confirm deletion and agree to remove Apple access yourself. If you cannot use the app, support will explain these steps and ask for your explicit acknowledgment before using the same manual-removal fallback.

To remove access yourself:

  1. Open Apple Account and sign in
  2. Choose Sign-In & Security, then Sign in with Apple
  3. Select Odyssea and stop using Sign in with Apple

Removing Apple access does not itself submit an Odyssea deletion request or cancel a store subscription. Use the in-app or verified email deletion process above as well.

What gets deleted

When your account is deleted:

  • Your account is deactivated immediately and you are signed out on every device
  • Your profile, dive logs, dive cards, trips, expenses, reviews, wildlife sightings, and backed-up photos are scheduled for permanent deletion after the 30-day restoration window
  • Encrypted Apple refresh tokens are removed when revocation succeeds, when a terminal manual-removal outcome is recorded, or at scheduled hard purge after the 30-day restoration window. Related revocation records and deletion-recovery receipts are removed by hard purge
  • An active Odyssea Pro subscription is not cancelled by deleting your account — cancel it in your Apple ID or Google Play subscription settings. Your RevenueCat customer record (app user identifier and purchase history) is kept by RevenueCat so Store purchases can be restored; tell us in your email if you want it erased as well
  • Crash reports already sent to Sentry are pseudonymous and expire under Sentry's standard retention period (currently 90 days); they cannot be matched back to you once the account is gone

What is kept

  • Data on your device stays until you uninstall the app or delete it in Settings
  • Records we must keep to meet legal obligations (for example, purchase records held by Apple or Google under their own policies)

Changed your mind?

Signing in before permanent cleanup restores your account with your synced data intact. Permanent deletion is scheduled after the 30-day restoration window. After permanent cleanup, deletion cannot be undone.
